Proptech Collective

Code of Conduct

Prepared 21 September 2020

Proptech Collective is dedicated to providing an empowering experience for everyone who participates in or supports our community. This Code of Conduct was created to clearly define what we mean by a harassment-free experience, so that our community and those who support it are clear about our intent and have access to procedures for addressing issues, should they arise. All attendees, speakers, sponsors and volunteers at Proptech Collective are required to abide by the Code of Conduct. Organizers will enforce this code throughout the event. We expect cooperation from all participants to help ensure a safe environment for everyone.

This code of conduct also applies to Proptech Collective’s virtual communities including the Slack and LinkedIn groups which are enforced by  Proptech Collective members and admins.

The Quick Version

Proptech Collective is a community platform that exists to bridge the information, diversity and knowledge gap between the real estate and technology industries.  We are a collective of real estate professionals, technologists, entrepreneurs, and community builders that believe technological innovation can change the built world for the better.  We are committed to our mission statement and equally committed to providing a harassment-free experience for everyone, regardless of gender and gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, or religion. We do not tolerate harassment of participants in any form at events or online. Sexual language and imagery is not appropriate for any venue and no weapons of any kind are allowed at Proptech Collective events. Participants violating these rules may be sanctioned or expelled permanently at the discretion of the organizers, which in most cases are members of the Proptech Collective leadership team.

Forms of Harassment and Discrimination

Harassment includes offensive verbal comments related to gender and gender identity, age, sexual orientation, disability, physical appearance, body size, race, religion, sexual images in public spaces, deliberate intimidation, stalking, following, harassing photography or recording, sustained disruption of talks or other events, inappropriate physical contact, and unwelcome sexual attention. These are unacceptable at any and all Proptech Collective events. Participants asked to stop any harassing behavior are expected to immediately comply and may be removed from the event without warning by any member of Proptech Collective leadership. Participants are expected to comply with the Proptech Collective Code of Conduct at all event venues.

Consequences for Harassment and Discrimination

If a participant engages in behavior which is harassing or discriminatory in any way, the event organizers may take any action they deem appropriate. These actions include, but are not limited to, issuing a warning or expulsion from all future events and online forums. Organizers will also contact security or local law enforcement, if required.

Inclusion

We aim to foster a safe, inclusive space for all attendees whatever their gender or orientation may be. Do be mindful to avoid derogatory, discriminatory, and violent language. Remember that all attendees are expected to abide by our Code of Conduct, which we are prepared to enforce. We respect all individuals' identities - use stated names and pronouns, refrain from challenging a marginalized person’s race, sexuality, disability, etc.

How to Report Harassment and Discrimination

If you experience or notice harassment, discrimination, or any of the unacceptable behaviors outlined herein at a Proptech Collective event or online space, or have any other concerns, please report the incident as soon as possible.

To report an incident, take one of the following actions:

We encourage you to report any incident of harassment, discrimination, or unacceptable behavior as soon as possible. Proptech Collective leadership will take all appropriate actions to mitigate risk factors moving forward and continue to provide a safe and secure environment for all Proptech Collective members. Proptech Collective leadership is happy to assist attendees in contacting venue security, local law enforcement, or otherwise aid those experiencing harassment so that they feel safe for the duration of the event.

Periodic Review

Proptech Collective strives to create a positive and inclusive environment. As such, the Proptech Collective leadership team will review the Code of Conduct periodically to ensure that it continues to align with this goal and address the needs of our community.
